Playtika Announces Job Cuts Amidst Ongoing Challenges

In a recent development, Playtika, a prominent player in the gaming industry, is anticipated to reduce its workforce by up to 400 jobs, representing approximately 10% of its total staff. The details surfaced from reports by Israeli tech site CTech.

Notably, this workforce reduction is expected to spare Playtika’s Israel office, which currently employs around 1,100 individuals. The company, well-known for its gaming ventures, has faced several challenges in recent years.

One such challenge involved the mobilization of about 150 staff from its Israeli office for military service, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the environment in which Playtika operates. Earlier this year, the company announced a strategic decision to halt the launch of new games until improvements are observed in the marketing landscape.

This announcement came in the wake of a failed takeover bid for Rovio, a move that was met with resistance from Rovio staff. The setbacks continued for Playtika as it initiated layoffs, cutting over 600 jobs in December 2022. This substantial reduction followed the closure of Best Fiends studio Seriously in October of the same year.

We have reached out to Playtika for official confirmation and comments on these reported developments. As the story unfolds, updates will be provided to offer a comprehensive understanding of Playtika’s evolving situation in the dynamic gaming industry.
