Roblox Mobile Surpasses $7 Billion in Player Spending, Approaches 1 Billion Downloads
Roblox's mobile iteration continues its global dominance, ranking among the highest-grossing apps. Key metrics shared by AppMagic in a recent blog post showcase the platform's remarkable success, with player spending exceeding $7 billion on both iOS and Android.
It's important to note that AppMagic's displayed revenue considers in-app purchases after platform fees and inclusive taxes. Roblox's actual in-app purchase revenue stands at over $4.2 billion. Analysts calculated player spending by reinstating the 30% cuts and taxes deducted by stores before payments to publishers.
Breaking down the revenue by country, the United States leads with a 58% share, followed by the UK (7%), Canada (4%), South Korea (4%), and Australia (3%). Globally, Roblox has amassed an impressive 995 million downloads. In terms of installations, the US claims the top spot with a 20% share, followed by Brazil (12%), Mexico (6%), and Indonesia (5.6%).
It's crucial to consider that AppMagic's metrics solely track in-app purchases, excluding other revenue sources like licensing agreements, ad revenue, and royalties. Roblox's total earnings, encompassing PC and consoles, surpass these figures.
In 2022, Roblox recorded approximately $800 million in in-app purchase revenue, marking a 13% YoY decrease. However, the company's annual report reveals a robust total revenue of $2.2 billion across all platforms, reflecting a 16% YoY increase.
Year-to-date, Roblox stands as the top free-to-play mobile game globally, accumulating over 190 million downloads. It is closely followed by Subway Surfers, Ludo King, Candy Crush Saga, and Royal Match.
In terms of revenue, Roblox ranks as the fifth highest-grossing title this year, boasting over $753 million in in-app purchase revenue. It trails behind Candy Crush Saga, Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, and Honor of Kings.
AppMagic's data unveils Roblox's cumulative RpD (revenue per download) at $4.25 globally. Hong Kong leads the chart with $20.44, followed by Singapore ($19.5), Norway ($17.12), Switzerland ($16.84), and Denmark ($14.38). Roblox's exceptional performance underscores its sustained impact and success in the global mobile gaming landscape.
