Dynasty Warriors M Shutting Down 15 Months After Launch

Koei Tecmo and Nexon’s Dynasty Warriors M is set to shut down on February 20, 2025, just 15 months after its global launch.

The game initially soft-launched in Asia in October 2023 before releasing globally on November 22, 2023, as the franchise's first new entry since 2018. According to AppMagic estimates, the title has generated nearly $10.7 million in lifetime player spending to date.

Before the End

South Korean developer Nexon brought the Dynasty Warriors franchise to mobile, blending its signature hack-and-slash gameplay with elements of idle games, gacha mechanics, and strategic city building. At launch, the game featured 50 of the 94 characters from Dynasty Warriors 9.

The game's largest player base is in Japan, which accounts for 25% of lifetime downloads. However, South Korea remains the most lucrative region, contributing 40% of lifetime revenue, with Japan following at 28%.

Neither Nexon nor Koei Tecmo has disclosed an official reason for the game’s closure, but AppMagic data shows its revenue peaked in December 2023 and steadily declined month-over-month since June 2024.

In-app purchases were disabled following maintenance on December 19, 2024. Players can continue to spend previously purchased currency in the game’s shop but are no longer able to make new purchases. The publisher confirmed that premium gold would not be refunded and that the game would no longer be available for download after February 20. Existing players will lose access to the game on the same day.

"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our warriors who have supported Dynasty Warriors M with interest and feedback for over a year since our launch," the team stated.

"Despite your continued support throughout our journey together, we regretfully inform you that Dynasty Warriors M will end its service on February 20, 2025. We sincerely thank you once again for your love and support for Dynasty Warriors M." Source: adapted from an article by PocketGamer.biz
