In 2023, Battlegrounds Mobile India ranks as the fourth most searched game
Google, the search giant, has unveiled its list of the most searched games in 2023, with Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) securing the fourth position. It closely follows Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us, and Connections. Despite facing challenges, including a ban in July of the previous year, BGMI's return in May has propelled it to the forefront of consumer spending, establishing itself as a powerhouse in the Indian gaming scene.
Last month, Google Play further highlighted BGMI's success by listing it as the top-ranking app in the 'Best Apps and Games' category for 2023. This recognition, coupled with developer Krafton being acknowledged as the best developer of the year, solidifies BGMI's position in the industry.
In terms of consumer spending in 2023, BGMI is the second top-grossing mobile app in India, following closely behind Free Fire MAX.
BGMI's success is particularly noteworthy, having generated a staggering $102 million in gross revenue to date across the App Store and Google Play in India. Since its relaunch in May, the game has impressively amassed $58.9 million.
As the fourth most searched game in 2023, Battlegrounds Mobile India surpasses other popular titles with broader international reach, including Starfield, Game of the Year Baldur's Gate 3 for 2023, Suika Game (Watermelon Game), Diablo IV, Atomic Heart, and Sons of the Forest.
BGMI's triumph in the dynamic landscape of mobile gaming in India is not an isolated feat. Suika Game (Watermelon Game) also made its mark, securing the seventh position in the top-grossing mobile apps of 2023. These achievements underscore the thriving and competitive nature of the Indian gaming market, where BGMI continues to dominate despite its tumultuous past.
