Kwalee invests €1.5 million in 8SEC

Video game developer and publisher Kwalee has made a significant investment of €1.5 million in the French mobile game studio 8SEC. This partnership will see Kwalee’s CFO, Matthew Farrow, and VP of mobile publishing, John Wright, joining the board of 8SEC.


While maintaining its independent operations in Paris and Lyon, 8SEC will now benefit from Kwalee's global team and specialized expertise in user acquisition, monetization, game design, and data science. Kwalee boasts a dedicated publishing team committed to transforming game concepts into successful and profitable ventures.


With a portfolio of over 90 mobile games and more than 50 million downloads, 8SEC has established itself with popular titles such as Trivia.io, Hero Squad, and Idle Army. Their focus on hybrid-casual mobile game style offers easy-to-play titles designed for extended play to generate revenue through ads and in-app purchases.


Louis Giraud, CEO of 8SEC, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to propel the hybrid-casual mobile market into the next generation. Kwalee's investment in 8SEC follows their strategic acquisition of casual narrative game platform Tictales in 2022, showcasing their commitment to the French gaming scene.
