Metacore Games snaps up animation studio Piñata
Metacore Games, the creator of Merge Mansion, has made a strategic move by acquiring the animation studio Piñata. While the specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the purchase involves Metacore taking possession of all shares of the animation company.
This acquisition marks a significant step for Metacore as it aims to enhance its storytelling capabilities and bolster in-house marketing efforts for its games. Piñata, a company with a history dating back to 2008, has established itself as a creative partner and art producer for renowned clients such as Zynga, Housemarque, and SuperCell. Their extensive games art portfolio includes well-known titles like Control, Boom Beach, and Clash of Clans. Notably, Piñata has been collaborating with Metacore since the launch of Merge Mansion in 2020.
Metacore's CEO, Mika Tammenkoski, shared his vision, stating, "Our mission is to create entertainment with our games but also with our marketing and community building. Piñata brings us not only animation skills and capabilities but creative storytelling both for our games and marketing."
This announcement comes on the heels of Metacore's recent revelation of establishing a new game development studio in Germany. Furthermore, it was disclosed that the games company achieved a substantial revenue of nearly $136 million in 2022, underscoring its continued growth and success in the gaming industry.
