Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Hits $400 Million in Revenue Within 10 Weeks

DeNA and The Pokémon Company’s new mobile sensation, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, has smashed through $400 million in gross revenue just 10 weeks after its global launch on October 30, 2024. The milestone was achieved on January 6, 2025, and by January 7, lifetime earnings had reached an impressive $403 million across the App Store and Google Play.

Japan Leads in Player Spending

According to AppMagic estimates, Japan is the most monetized audience for Pokémon TCG Pocket, contributing 43% of total earnings, or $172 million, despite accounting for just 9% of total downloads. Japan’s share of player spending has also risen slightly over time, up 1% since the title reached its first $100 million in its initial 17 days.

The United States holds the second-largest share of revenue, contributing $104 million (26% of total spend). It remains the only other country to have surpassed nine figures in spending.

Performance Over Time

Pokémon TCG Pocket reached $200 million in just 31 days, taking another 35 days to double that amount. While this slight slowdown is not significant, the second month saw more varied and sporadic daily earnings compared to the first.

During its first month, the game recorded daily revenues below $6 million on just six days, peaking at $8.4 million on November 22. The month averaged $6.5 million in daily spending.

In the second month, daily revenues dropped below $6 million on 20 occasions, averaging $5.5 million per day. However, this period also marked its most lucrative day yet, with $8.7 million in revenue on December 21, following the release of its first pack expansion, Mythical Island.

The expansion introduced over 80 new cards and illustrations, fueling a surge in player spending and revitalizing engagement.

Incredible Early Success

Despite launching late in 2024, *Pokémon TCG Pocket* became the year’s third most lucrative new mobile game. As of January 7, 2025, daily revenue dropped to a record low of $2.7 million, just below its launch day earnings. This dip may reflect a lull as players await the next major expansion, but even its “worst” day demonstrates the game’s remarkable success.

A New Milestone for Pokémon Mobile Titles

Surpassing $400 million in just 10 weeks positions Pokémon TCG Pocket as the second highest-grossing Pokémon mobile game of all time, outpacing the five-year-old Pokémon Masters. The only title ahead is the AR giant Pokémon Go.

With its explosive debut and strong ongoing performance, Pokémon TCG Pocket may be poised to challenge even Pokémon Go’s record-breaking legacy. Through continuous updates and the power of its nostalgic appeal, the game’s success shows no signs of slowing.
