MAG Interactive achieves its most successful year to date following a robust marketing campaign for Wordzee

Renowned for its word and trivia games, including hits like Primetime, Word Mansion, Word Domination, and Wordzee, mobile games developer MAG Interactive has notched over 350 million downloads globally. As 2023 draws to a close, MAG’s recently released financial report unveils a year of exceptional achievements.

In the past year, MAG witnessed eight million new installs, engaging an impressive 13 million unique players spanning 195 countries who collectively spent over 308 million hours immersed in the game catalog. The financials for 2022/23 highlight a robust 10% growth in net sales compared to the previous year, reaching a record-breaking high for MAG Interactive.

The surge in revenue can be attributed to an increase from $0.062 to $0.074 per active user over the year. MAG Interactive’s net sales for the year totaled SEK 362 million ($34.6 million), with a significant portion fueled by its loyal US fanbase, contributing 42% of the market revenue. Germany secured the second position with 24%, while the Swedish market claimed the third spot at 6%.

Remarkably, the US market, with only 20% of the downloads, emerged as the highest spender for MAG games, making it a pivotal contributor to the developer’s financial success. By downloads, France secured the third position among individual regions with 13%.

Despite a quarterly decline from SEK 97.3 million ($9.3 million) in Q1 to SEK 80.1 million ($7.7 million) in Q4, MAG Interactive’s robust performance in H1 propelled it to break its own revenue records.

Increased marketing efforts for Wordzee, MAG’s flagship game of the year, and the celebration of QuizDuel’s 10th anniversary played crucial roles in driving growth. The player base in 2023 exhibited a composition of 62% male and 38% female users.

Daniel Hasselberg, MAG CEO, reflecting on the stellar performance, noted, “The last three years’ average revenue growth rate is 18%, while being consistently profitable on a yearly basis.” Looking ahead, he outlined the ambitious goal of reaching revenues of 500 MSEK per year, aiming for a 20% EBIT margin, emphasizing the continued focus on strategic user acquisition efforts.

MAG Interactive’s user acquisition strategies in 2023 have evidently paid off, solidifying its position as a leading player in the competitive mobile gaming landscape.
