Subway Surfers to introduce first AR features into the long-running title

Sybo, the creator of the immensely popular mobile game Subway Surfers, is set to introduce exciting new augmented reality (AR) features to the game in July.

Known as Subway Studio, this innovative addition will enable players to choose characters from the game and place them within real-world environments using their device's camera. By superimposing the characters onto actual landscapes, players will have the ability to capture videos or take pictures to share with others. Importantly, Subway Studio will be seamlessly integrated into the main Subway Surfers game, eliminating the need for any external downloads.

Mathias Gredal Nørvig, the CEO of Sybo, expressed his enthusiasm for Subway Studio, emphasizing its empowering nature for players. He stated, "Subway Studio puts the power of creativity and virality in our players' hands, allowing them to interact, tell stories, and create content with their favorite characters wherever they may be, be it at home, in the backyard, or even at work."

Sybo's decision to develop Subway Studio stems from the immense popularity of user-generated content related to Subway Surfers on platforms like TikTok. Notably, videos under the hashtag #SubwaySurfers have accumulated an astounding 34 billion views on TikTok alone. Recognizing the community's love for creating their own content, Sybo sought to provide a dedicated platform within the game itself.

The continuous evolution of Subway Surfers remains a priority for Sybo, with the game celebrating its eleventh anniversary this year. Murari Vasudevan, the technical director at Sybo, highlighted the team's commitment to offering fresh experiences to players. Vasudevan stated, "We are constantly exploring new avenues to engage our players, and this cutting-edge technology is a testament to that. Subway Studio utilizes state-of-the-art mobile AR and camera tracking technology, providing an immersive experience where players can truly feel like they are spending time with their beloved characters in real life, irrespective of their devices' AR capabilities."

Furthermore, Sybo intends to cater to its expansive TikTok community, which currently boasts 7.6 million followers and continues to grow. In addition to Subway Studio, the company plans to launch a filter on TikTok that will enable players to interact with one of the game's characters, Jake, in a similar fashion.

With a steadfast commitment to regular updates, new games, and groundbreaking innovations, Sybo is resolute in its dedication to ensuring the enduring success of the Subway Surfers franchise. The Subway Surfers express shows no signs of derailing anytime soon, delighting fans with each new development.
